Project: Emali Dedicated Project

Region: Kenya

The basic source of income for the residents is small-scale farming and petty trade. An urgent need has been identified for basic health care to help prevent and care for children and parents with malaria and HIV/AIDS, and to help children orphaned by the AID?s epidemic. Almost 1,000 Kiwis have supported this project for over 10 years.

Project: Tsunami - Pick up the pieces

Region: Sri Lanka

ChildFund was one of the first agencies to respond on the ground to those affected by the tsunami in India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

Project: Hamutuk - War Children of East Timor

Region: East Timor

Hamutuk ("Unity" in Tetun, the local language), is a project that assists children and their families living around a township in the western portion of East Timor. The project is situated in a low-lying area that has little rain much of the year.

Project: Graca - War Children of East Timor

Region: East Timor

Graca is located in war-scarred Suai region of East Timor. Before gaining independence, people earned their living as farmers, growing corn, vegetables and beans. There is no irrigation so they are dependent on rain, which only falls for three months during the year.
