Sponsor a Rejected Child

Sponsoring a child is a wonderful experience. But sadly sometimes sponsors have to cancel their sponsorship. This year, more than 312 sponsored children have been 'sent back' by their New Zealand sponsors. It's a difficult situation but to the children it appears they’re not wanted any more.

No matter what challenges we face in New Zealand, these children have grown up in poverty beyond anything we can imagine.

Four-year-old Vivian from Kenya (pictured above) is one of the children who has lost the comfort and certainty of knowing she has a child sponsor.

ChildFund will strive to keep providing Vivian with the most important physical care she needs for as long as we can, but it’s desperate we find a new child sponsor for her as soon as possible.

Please sponsor a rejected child like Vivian now.

Vivian lives in Nyanza Province in south western Kenya, where her uncle cares for her. Vivian's parents are dead. Her uncle is a brick maker and works hard but for a very small income. Because this whole community is so poor, work is scarce. Their crops of maize and beans do not grow well on the arid land.

That means, if we cannot find another child sponsor to support Vivian and children like her, she is at severe risk. While Vivian is an early childhood school, and loves art and skipping rope, the family’s poverty means there’s a real danger the chance to build a better life through education will be lost.

Help to Save a Child Today

By becoming a sponsor today with ChildFund New Zealand, you can help change a poor child's life forever. For just $1.50 a day you can provide a child with a brighter, happier future.

Your support not only improves the wellbeing of your sponsored child but it also gives them a sense of self-esteem knowing that someone genuinely cares.

Show you care by sponsoring a rejected child.

You can exchange letters with your sponsored child. Children living in poverty seldom have a voice, but through their letters to their sponsors they can express themselves, their ideas and dreams.

Ultimately you will be helping a child, their family and often their entire community break free from poverty.

You can choose a child right now - see their picture and find out more about their situation. Please click the search screen and select a child that needs your support..
