Fighting to beat the odds
At just 10 years old, Meena has faced more than any child should have to.
When Meena was very young, brutal civil war in Sri Lanka forced her family to flee their village and live in a refugee camp. When it was finally safe to go home, they returned to find their house destroyed.
But the suffering didn’t end there. In 2004 the Boxing Day tsunami hit, claiming thousands of lives and decimating everything in its path.
Despite surviving all this, Meena’s future still hangs in the balance. Without a good education, she faces a lifetime trapped in poverty. That’s why we desperately need your help.
We urgently need to raise $96,000 to give teachers the vital training they need to give Meena and others like her the future they’re fighting for.
