1. Does this gift go to my sponsored child?
Items purchased through Gifts that Grow are distributed to families living within the project area, depending on need. This includes families of sponsored children as well as non-sponsored children. If you would like to purchase one of the items in the catalogue specifically for your sponsored child, please call our Donor Services team to discuss.
2. How do you decide which country is receiving help with the gifts?
Each country gives us a list of items that have the greatest benefit to families living within the project area.
3. How does the pricing work? If I buy a goat, am I actually buying a goat?
The money you donate through Gifts that Grow is specifically coded so that it goes into a pool of money for the item you have selected. The project area receives these funds and uses them to purchase the items locally. This way, it keeps our costs down and supports the local businesses in and near our project areas. However, if we are oversubscribed for a particular gift item, funds will be directed towards a related project - whether it be livelihoods, health, education or the protection of children. This allows us to direct donations to where the need is greatest.
4. Do I find out or hear from the family that receives the item that I purchased?
No. It is difficult for us to keep track of every item purchased. However, we will post stories on our website about some of the families who have benefited from these gifts.
5. Why is the price different if I want to send an item to my sponsored child?
The prices listed in the Gifts that Grow catalogue are not always the total cost of a single item. If you wish to purchase an item for your sponsored child, please call us on 0800 808 822 to discuss further.
6. Are the items purchased in New Zealand and then sent overseas?
The funds raised through Gifts that Grow are distributed to each project area and items are purchased locally. This means that the items received will be suitable for the area that they are being distributed in and this will also support local businesses in and around the project areas.
7. How will they feed the animals?
Most families are able to generate income from the animals they have been gifted and this helps them with the upkeep of their livestock. The project does the best that they can to assist families.
8. What happens if too much of a certain item is purchased?
If we are oversubscribed for a particular gift item, funds will be directed towards a related project - whether it be livelihoods, health, education or the protection of children. This allows us to direct donations to where the need is greatest.
9. What is the purpose of the cards?
For every item you buy from the Gifts that Grow catalogue, you will receive a beautiful gift card representing your gift. You can then write a special message inside, and give to loved ones, friends or colleagues to tell them about the difference they've made in a child's life. If you do not wish to receive gift cards, please let us know as you submit your order online.
10. Can I make a Gifts that Grow purchase at any time of the year?
Yes! The catalogue is issued each October and the items are available to be purchased at any time until the following year's catalogue is released. Stock up now, so you are prepared for any occasion!
