Long-time ChildFund supporter, Eileen Reid was known by many roles: wife, mother, teacher, child sponsor. She was known to care for others, quickly placing them before herself. In the years before she passed away, she held on to a bookmark which stated simply: ‘It is in giving that we receive.’ And these words rang true right until her final days. Prior to her passing, she decided to leave a gift in her Will to help ChildFund reach children and families in need. Eileen’s gift went on to improve the lives of over 600 people in Emali, rural Kenya!
It is especially during times of uncertainty, just as we are facing today, that we must hold on to the memory of people like Eileen. We must hold on to hope.
COVID-19 may keep us apart but I am proud to say that it hasn’t dampened the Kiwi spirit of generosity. Over the past weeks, we’ve been contacted by many people who wish to leave a donation in their Wills – referred to as a ‘gift’ – to help children in greatest need, around the world.
ChildFund’s Hope Society was started years ago to give you – and the thousands of wonderful Kiwis who share your values – a chance to help the children who come after you. Each gift is invested in ChildFund's Impact Investment Fund, to be grown, protected and put to work. It means that your gift will change the world in the most remarkable ways: food, education, life skills and training to overcome poverty!
