290 have lost their lives following Easter explosions in Sri Lanka, sponsored children reported safe

ChildFund Sri Lanka provides an update on the situation

On Sunday, eight bombs exploded in Colombo, Gampaha and Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, killing 290 people and injuring at least 500.

ChildFund Sri Lanka has conducted an immediate assessment following the attack, with reports suggesting that the children in our programmes are safe and accounted for. We are extremely saddened by the news that there have been reported injuries and loss of life for our partner staff members and their families as a result of the bombings.

The Sri Lankan government are taking necessary measures to keep people safe during this traumatic time. As such, the ChildFund office will be closed for the next day or two.

We continue to monitor the situation and will keep supporters informed if anything changes.
