Kiwis gave Nurmala a bicycle last year through Gifts that Grow.  It's changing her life, and the lives of her two sisters.  Nurmala shares why...

I take both of my sisters to school on the bicycle. We start at 6am and get to school at 7:30am. Before, walking it takes 3 hours. We would have to start at 5am. We used to be very tired when we got to school. My sisters would cry because it was too far."

Now Nurmala and her sisters can arrive at school on time, and still have enough energy to pay attention in class.  It also means that the girls can help out with chores at home after school.

Nurmala says "I also use the bike when my mother gives me some work to do – going to the shop and to get water. Otherwise we have to walk 1 hour to get water."

"My favourite subject at school is maths. I like to play sports like cricket. When I grow up I want to be a teacher.”

Thanks to the gift of a bicycle, Nurmala can get to school and focus on her favourite subject.  Her dream to become a teacher, along with her sisters' dreams for the future, can truly become a reality.
