This is why we choose to sponsor!

ChildFund staff members share why they sponsor a child

Have you ever thought about helping a child around the world? It can be a tough decision, since there are plenty of great ways to make a difference. One of the most powerful ways you can change the life of a child, and their community, is through child sponsorship. This method of donating brings the relationship you form with a child right into the centre... That's why it works so well!

You can actually SEE the impact your donations have on your sponsored child's community!

ChildFund has been helping children around the world for more than 80 years, and in that time, we've learned a lot about how to improve the lives of vulnerable children. Over the years, generous New Zealanders have helped hundreds of thousands of children in need. Some of them even work with our organization.

We asked five of our loyal staff members why they decided to sponsor a child. Here's what they had to say:

Paul Brown, CEO

“When I turned 30, I made a conscious decision to start giving back to the world.”

Lee Donnell, Sponsor relations team

“I saw a photo of Moses. He looked so malnourished. I knew he needed me.”

Resh McGann, Impact team

"It helps me connect with another important individual living a world away from me."

Doris Patrick, Finance team

“I wanted my son to know what his life is like, compared to a child in need.”

Shona Jennings, Impact team

“Because I believe in how ChildFund works. I have a relationship with a child and a community. My sponsorship helps them both.”

No matter the reason, it's clear: child sponsorship is a meaningful way to change the lives of children, families and communities around the world. Have you ever thought of sponsoring a child? Why wait! There are hundreds of children still waiting for a sponsor. It could be you!
