It’s been just over 100 days since Typhoon Haiyan slammed into the Philippines, causing unprecedented damage and affecting 16 million Filipinos and we want to say Thank You. Your generosity has gone a long way, enabling ChildFund to provide 15 Child-Centred Spaces and deliver over 460 tonnes of disaster relief.
In any emergency, ChildFund’s response rolls out in two parts: relief and recovery. ChildFund was one of the first organisations to provide relief on the ground and have delivered over 357 tonnes of food packs, 104 tonnes of non-food resources and clean water to families and communities in serious need.Children enjoy activities at Child-Centred Spaces
We were also the first organisation to establish Child-Centred Spaces, providing safe and supervised areas for children, after the storm. These Child-Centred Spaces are vital for children’s recovery after such a traumatic event. Trained professionals provide psychosocial support through structured play activities to help children deal with the loss of loved ones and homes, and the stress of living in evacuation centres. ChildFund also has assisted families with shelter, health needs and child protection, all major tasks in the aftermath of disasters because parents are often too busy to supervise their children at all times.Thank you for your generosity that has enabled ChildFund to help communities in need
ChildFund has been in the Philippines since 1954 and is providing support in the provinces of Leyte, Capiz and Northern Cebu, including one of the hardest hit cities, Tacloban. It’s going to be a long road to recovery, and ChildFund is committed to rebuilding the lives of impacted communities and helping the people of the Philippines get back on their feet.
Thank You for your generous support!
