Development Effectiveness Advisor - and - Papua New Guinea Programme Manager
Danica joined ChildFund New Zealand in 2014 after an introduction to international development through her time with the New Zealand Aid Programme. A two year experience in the Cook Islands cemented her belief that learning from the international development field could one day be used in the development of her own (indigenous) people. Danica and her daughters sponsor a young girl in Zambia, the result of her first visit there to see first-hand what is achieved through child sponsorship.
ChildFund’s work is made possible by the generosity of many people. My role is to share what is being achieved with all our supporters and to make sure that we keep making a difference to the communities we work with. This means understanding good practice in development and ensuring that interventions are aligned to the kind of results we want to see for children, young people and their families.
I’m learning so much from the people I work with in New Zealand and abroad. I’m constantly inspired by the communities we work with and the individuals I meet. I’m a huge believer in local solutions to local problems and that’s what I enjoy about ChildFund’s approach to development. We have a long-standing relationship with our communities, working with local partners to deliver interventions in priority areas that they have identified.
