Improving access to safe drinking water will be the primary focus of ChildFund’s work in Luangwa, Zambia. The plan is to install several new boreholes with tanks in key community locations including at health centres.
ChildFund will train people to maintain boreholes (planning for sustainability is a key part of good community development). Communities will also be educated on safe hygiene and sanitation practices.
Bringing safe water to Zambia
In Luangwa, access to water was made more difficult by the threat of crocodiles waiting by the rivers. A ChildFund project to provide dams, a borehole and water run offs has changed this. Meaning that water is closer and easier to access for families.
