Meet Marie Chan, Appeals Specialist

"At the end of 2019, just before Covid-19 stopped overseas travel, I visited one of our dedicated communities, Luangwa in Zambia. From early morning to late at night, I saw first-hand and heard all about the wonderful work that is being done for children in Luangwa. I met new Mums who had recently had babies at the brand new Kavalamanja Health Centre. I met teachers, parents and grandparents at the opening of a new school at Mandombe, who wanted our supporters to know how much they appreciated what had been done for their children."

I consider myself very fortunate to work with an amazing group of people. I’m not just talking about the team here in Auckland, New Zealand, but also our partners in the communities and the countries where ChildFund works all around the world.

I can’t think of a more rewarding career than to do something every day that is going to improve the lives of children in vulnerable communities.

When I’m not working, I’m trying to keep our new puppy busy so she doesn’t destroy my garden and spending time with my husband and two children.
