Without food, everything is a struggle. Just ask Kipish.
Sadly, many children in Emali, Kenya, are facing another difficult year. Children like Kipish. Apart from one donkey to help carry firewood and water, his family has no livestock, which means they have no source of milk or meat. Or income. Kipish and his brothers and sisters frequently go hungry. When the rains don’t come, the situation is even more dire.
Mary, his mother, does everything she can, but there simply isn’t enough food. Kipish is lucky if he eats just once a day – and that’s on the ‘good days’, when they have managed to sell some firewood. On other days, there is nothing.
Kipish is malnourished, and often sick. His mother worries for him constantly. As I’m sure you know, the first five years of a child’s life are essential for their development, both physically and mentally.
But you can make a difference.
With your help, ChildFund creates deeper, long-term solutions that give families and communities the resources, skills and support they need to make positive change that will have a lasting effect for generations to come.
In Kipish’s community, families will receive much-needed training, animals and drought-resistant moringa trees, building people’s livelihoods so parents are able to nourish and sustain their families. This is all part of a Roadmap Plan to help children thrive – a plan developed by the community themselves.
By donating now you can deliver needed food, animals and drought-resistant crops to help nourish and sustain families in need. And every dollar will be match-funded by the New Zealand Government, so in effect, your donation will be doing three times the good.
Every ChildFund donation is tax-refundable, which means that if you donate now, you can get 33% back as a tax rebate - read our blog to find out more.
Every child should be able to grow and develop them and have nourishing food that helps them not just survive but thrive. Will you help make this a reality?
"My biggest worry is for my children, that they do not get enough food. If Kipish continues to grow this way, he will never be a strong man because of lack of food." - Mary (Kipish' Mother)
How will you help?
